How to safely remove a red wine stain from your carpet in 5 easy steps
It's getting a bit chilly here in Brisbane and sometimes winding down with a glass of wine..( or two!) is the perfect end to a long week.
Luke just posted a new blog on how to safely remove red wine from carpet on Friday morning. Guess what happened that night...?!
On his parent's rug no thanks to our daughter accidently knocking a glass off the table. No one was hurt! Not even the rug!
5 Steps to Remove Wine from your carpet
1. Place down paper towels on the red wine stain to absorb the liquid. Keep replacing the paper towels until you can no longer absorb any more liquid.
Please blot the stain as in the video. Rubbing the stain can distort the carpet fibre.
2. Spray the wine stain with a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar. The larger the stain the more product you will need to apply. Please don't go overboard. Applying to much product can over wet the carpet causing browning.
3. Apply some downward pressure to the wine stain. Pressing down firmly or standing on top of the paper towel will help absorb excess moisture.
4. Reapply a light mist of the 50/50 mix of water and vinegar and blot up any residue.
5. If the wine stain is still there you can apply 3% peroxide to the wine stain. As a professional I find this the best way to remove red wine from carpet but you need to be careful not to remove dyes especially from delicate rugs.

If you spilled a large amount of 🍷 wine you may need to call a professional.
Please whatever you do DO NOT apply every single product you have under the sink to the wine stain. This will only make it worse and in many cases cause the stain to be permanent.
