How to find dog urine on carpet?
A UV light (ultraviolet) reflects salt crystals in urine that are permanently attached to carpet fibres and will forever grow. Cleaning and extracting urine dilutes and removes most of these. The salt and protein is dispensed in the cleaning solution.
Fresh urine spots glow more than urine spots that have been treated and cleaned.
Salts and proteins of the pet urine glow. Depending on the absorbency of the carpet fibre little may show for a carpet fibre that has low absorbency such as polyester or SmartStrand. If you compare the glow to a highly absorbent fibre such as wool it will be much more apparent.
How long or how often the urine was deposited will also determine how much the urine glows under a UV light.
You will never remove 100% of the urine by flushing the stain. Our goal is to greatly improve the urine odour to an acceptable level. Any company that guarantees complete removal with carpet cleaning is either naive or inexperienced.
The only way to remove 100% of the urine is to replace the sub floor, underlay and carpet which would be expensive.
Subfloor is what is underneath your carpet and underlay. It is usually concrete or timber floors . It is easier to remove urine from concrete than timber floors.
Underlay is a layer of cushioning that is laid underneath your carpet. It is usually made of foam, rubber and felt.
